A Day of Adventure

Tuesday was definitely a day of "Adventure."  I'm not typically a spontaneous person.  I like to be on a schedule and prefer to know in advance what the day holds.  When we woke up on Tuesday I thought it would be a perfect day to use some of our Adventureland tickets.  Here are my reasons for why...

1) Not many people take an extra day off after the 4th...and if they do have the day off they are probably the type of person who went to a lake and are using the extra time to travel home.
2) Being a teacher I know that you NEVER schedule an important outing or field trip after a holiday.  Parents forget to send money, lunches, supplies...ect.  So I figured that would apply to daycares and not many groups of kids would be there.

I was right!  The water park had hardly anyone there and we never had to wait for rides.  The kid rides were not busy at all and Ava and Isaiah could just stay on and ride over and over again.  Some of the larger rides we got in line and waited maybe 2 minutes tops.  It was awesome.  We got there around 12:00 and spent about 2 hours at Adventure Bay...the water park.  After that we headed over to the rides until closing (8:00).  The weather was perfect...an overcast day with a few random sprinkles here and there...just enough to cool us off.

This picture was actually from a new days ago.  Isaiah took this of us!  I figure we don't ever really post pictures of us...so here you have it.

The kids thought it was funny to set the timer on the camera and take a little family picture in their pajamas.

Ava laying out at Adventure Bay.

Isaiah soakin' in a little sun too.  I didn't really take any pictures here because we were both with the kids and I didn't want the camera to get wet.  We rented a tube and went in the Lazy River, went swimming in the pool, played in the "splash area," and the kids went down the little water slides.

This is a picture of the kids play zone area.  The slides they went on were much smaller than the blue ones you see.  It's nice because there's something here for every age.  See the people...that was pretty much the "crowd."

Riding in the covered wagon ferris wheel...Isaiah was next to me.

Riding the dragons

They did such a nice job taking turns with the controls to raise the dragon up and down.

Sorry for the tilted picture...Isaiah enjoying his giant pickle

Ava on what we call "The Queen of Hearts."  It was really called Lady Luck.

Here's Isaiah riding the bench on the carousel.

A major break through!  He likes riding the horses now...Andy had him try and he loved it!  I'm taking pictures and sat out for almost an hour.  I never used to get motion sickness...but after riding the hot air balloons I felt sick to my stomach!

A little flyin'

Mommy and Ava on the bumper cars

Daddy and Isaiah...our little driver...he's been asking about going on this and was very excited!

Time to drive some semi trucks

They rode this over and over and over and over again!

Ava and Daddy on the logride.  We all went together once...but Isaiah didn't want to go again.  Ava and Andy went over and over again...at one point they just let them stay in the boat and keep going.

Another ride on the semi!

We ran into the Krogh's...this is their son Jace.

One last ride

What a fun day!

The kids didn't nap while we were there...but did great.  We had an awesome time and will be going back again.

My Three Happy's:
1) Off to school again with the kids for a little bit...hopefully my little helpers will help me accomplish something...otherwise they love coming up just for fun!
2) It's 9:30 and the kids are in bed...it's a miracle!
3) Being home with my family...that's what summer's all about!

A Kiddie Parade

Yes...I know...it's JULY 5th!  I've been a terrible blogger lately.  The main reason being that the kids are getting to bed so late and I am exhausted by 10:00.  My little boost of energy that I once had is now gone!  The next two posts will be about our 4th of July celebration.

Slater...what's not to like about this amazing town!  We host the 4th of July in our community every year and it's a pretty popular place to be.  From bands and mud volleyball, to parades and talent contests, from food vendors to carnivals...there is something for everyone.  The best part...we can walk to everything and watch the fireworks from our backyard.  Love it!

It's been a tradition every year to have a Kiddie Parade where kids decorate their bikes, wagons, strollers, gators...whatever they may have, and parade a few blocks to the local park.  This was held on Saturday morning.

Ava and Isaiah the night before getting their bags of candy ready to throw as they ride their bikes.  They only actually threw a few pieces...I took the large bag we had and tossed it to the kids that were watching.

The front of Ava's bike.  Isn't it funny how the balloons ended up...a "Hidden Mickey!"

This farmer led the parade with his dressed up geese...they were pretty cute!

At the end of the parade they always give away milk for the kids...Isaiah enjoying his chocolate milk.

Ava loving hers too...she loves milk even more than her brother.

At the park they had this balloon stand where kids could choose a balloon shape/animal.  Ava chose a purple poodle and Isaiah wanted a yellow sword...go figure.

Off to the little carnival for some rides

Julie and Isabelle...she loved this ride and didn't want to get off!

A mini merry-go-round

They loved these swings!

Yet another ride!

Climbing up to the slide...Isaiah wanted Daddy to go with him.

Ava went VERY fast!

My two boys all smiles

What's a carnival without playing a game or two.  Ava won this pink/purple rhino.

Isaiah won a super sized hammer!

My Three Happy's are at the bottom of the next post.

Next...a princess in our eyes...

A Princess in Our Eyes

Our little Ava was a star as she rode in the Slater parade dressed as a beautiful princess.  Although she did not "win," she was and will continue to be a princess in our eyes!

Getting ready to go...I tried doing an "up" do for her hair and it turned out great!  Her flower girl dress from Lindsey's wedding was a perfect look for this occasion.

Ava and her friend Veda waiting for their cars to get decorated.

Stephanie (Ava's queen) and Ava in front of their brand new Camero convertible.  Who wouldn't want to ride in that!  They were sponsored by the Forget Me Not Birthday Club.

They were both beautiful!

Ava's corsage she got to wear

Ava and Stephanie riding in the parade...she LOVED this!

She had a HUGE cheering section!

Happy as a clam after the parade!

Grandpa's turn

Isaiah wanted to hold Simba on his back just like Grandpa was holding Ava

A princess to us!

As I was putting these pictures on here I realized that with all that was going on, I didn't take any of the family gathering we had at our house after the parade.  How crazy!  We had 19 people here!  It doesn't get any better than a day with family!  Happy belated 4th!

...up tomorrow...pictures from Adventureland...we went there yesterday!

My Three Happy's:
1) Unpacking some boxes in my classroom today while the kids napped...we had to move rooms this year...so it's like starting all over again.  This is my 11th year...crazy how time flies!
2) Andy's grandparents are having a garage sale this weekend and we're bringing lots of things...including our counter top kitchen table and 4 chairs...make way for my 2nd dream table from Pier One!
3) Watching the kids run around the front yard tonight trying to catch fireflies...it was so fun to watch them spot one, rush over, and if they did catch it...they felt so proud.
