Happy Days

....this post is filled with pictures of things that make us smile and make our days happy.

1) Bike Rides...since Isaiah has learned how to ride his bike...it seems like that's all he wants to do when he gets outside.  Ava loves riding along with him too.
He looks pretty cute in his "Cycones" baseball cap.

Happy Ava!

2) Garden produce...Andy planted a variety of radishes...some are pretty spicy!  That's the only thing that is ready so far so here's a pictures of Andy holding up one of his "crops."

Someone's proud!

3) As mentioned in an earlier post the kids attend a preschool library program every Wednesday.  This week they had a little science show sponsored by the Science Center of Iowa.

...another pictures of Ava looking VERY old to me.  She wanted to wear a ponytail with her princess hat.

Isaiah munching on his Apple Jacks cereal.

One of the experiments was on how big things are made of little things.  They used a strong microscope camera to look at random things from the audience.  We gave him an Apple Jack from Isaiah's bag and this is the view on the screen.

4) Last night we went to Ankey so I could run to The Learning Post (a teacher's store) and to the Auderer's house for dinner.  Scott Auderer is the head coach at Gilbert where Andy used to coach and we still stay in contact with their family.  Scott's wonderful wife is named Tammy and they have two girls Lauren (3rd grade) and Alexa (1st grade).  We spent a relaxing evening at their house eating yummy Godfather's pizza, watching the kids play, and just simply catching up.

Isaiah LOVED Alexa.  He actually wanted me to take a picture of him hugging her.

Ava, Lauren, Isaiah, and Alexa.

5) No naps today...since Ava's preschool will be in the afternoon we are gradually trying to wean her off of naps this summer.  Right now we are trying an "every other day" approach.  Today we let her stay up and let me tell you she loves having us to herself when Isaiah goes down for his nap.  It's like she's an only child again...just Mom, Dad, and Ava.  Andy was working on the patio so Ava and I played out front.

You know all those old random Happy Meal toys you have laying around the house?  We have a box of them in the garage and the kids have recently discovered them and enjoy playing with them outside.  Today Ava and I drew houses for each toy and created a little neighborhood.  We used some Hot Wheels cars to park in the driveways and really had a blast.

Ava asked me to draw "Africa" for the monkey, elephant, and snake.

This little Elmo was driving to visit Mr. Penguin.

Once Isaiah woke up he thought it was fun to ride his bike...yet again...around the neighborhood.

6) Patio...we're adding one off of our deck.  Step one today...begin digging out 7 inches of dirt and flattening it out.  I must admit that Andy did almost all the work today.  He made a lot of progress.  When we figure out exactly which stones we will be using I'll take some pictures and post them later.

Dirt, dirt, dirt...what kid doesn't love to get messy and hold worms.  Ava and Isaiah were helping dig and were searching for worms to add to our garden.

Isaiah helping Dad throw dirt into the wheelbarrow.

Andy hard at work...this pictures just gives some of you "out of town folks" an idea of where it's going.

Wish us luck!

...the Happy's for the day are included on the 2nd post I did about our little trip to Big Creek.

Let's Spend a Day at the Beach

...if your a parent of a little one you may recognize the title of this post "Let's Spend a Day at the Beach" as a Wiggles song...and no...this post has nothing to do with the Wiggles...I just thought it was fitting to our day on Tuesday.

The weather was decent...around 70 degrees...and we decided to go to Big Creek (a local beach by Saylorville Lake) for a picnic lunch, to ride bikes, and play in the sand...the kids were only supposed to get their feet wet in the lake...but as you can tell from the pictures belong...it turned into much more than that.

One of my favorite things about being a teacher is the flexibility to do whatever you want during the summer.  It's so nice to have nothing holding you back.  When I was growing up I always wanted to be a teacher...1st grade in particular...but one of my main reasons for this was because I knew I wanted to eventually be on the same schedule as my  kids.  I could never imagine myself doing anything else.

Jackson came along with  us.  You should have seen how excited he was when I said, "Do you want to go for a ride?"  He loves car rides.  We drove in the van so he could sit up front.  I always ride in back because he thinks he's pretty cool riding up front with Andy and he gets to hang his head out the window.  What a goof!

Andy and Jackson as we're leaving

Located on the beach is this HUGE play area.  Since the weather was an overcast and a bit chilly...even spitting out rain every now and then....there was only one other child there.  It was great and the kids loved playing on something new.  They thought the tire swing was pretty fun!

Ava balancing on some large tires...notice the mismatched outfit...she insisted on wearing this...blue/white stripped leggings and a Hello Kitty shirt...go figure!

Isaiah climbing down from the structure...below you will see a few more pictures of the play area.

Off to a picnic sight...this place has tons of bike trails.  The kids LOVE riding their bikes together.

Andy packed the picnic lunch for us.  Ava and Isaiah really like eating outside!  No one was around so we let Jackson off his leash...he acts so tough...but never tries to run off.  He loves his freedom and just being able to lay freely around us.

Headed over to the beach area

A little toe dipping turned into full out splashes...we brought swimsuits but thought the water was going to be too cold and left them in the car.  It turned out to be pretty nice so we just let them get their clothes wet and sandy.

Dogs aren't allowed on the actual beach so Andy took Jackson over to another area where he could swim.  He loves the water and was very happy and tired when we left.

Ava and Isaiah were collecting rocks...here's their pile they were so proud of!

This is a DEFINITE return destination...they loved every minute.

My Three Happys:
1) Isaiah woke me up at 6:15 this morning and said "Mommy, I have to go potty."  His diaper was dry and after he went...he fell back asleep until 8:00.
2) The kids are just falling asleep now...it's 9:40...they get this sudden burst of energy after their baths and this is the "moment" where they play together perfectly and get along great.  It's so hard to stop them from playing together when they're having such a fun time.
3) Yeah...patio in the works...can't wait!

Long Lost Pictures

Two weekends ago Andy was out of town at a football clinic so I took the kids to Grimes for their "Funtastic Days."  I've had these on the camera for weeks and today Andy emptied our memory card...all 1200 pictures...onto Shutterfly.  I figured I better get these up because Ava and Isaiah had so much fun!  Enjoy...

Getting ready to watch the parade

The kids loved watching the gigantic cow go by.

One of the local churches was handing out water and they were shooting hotdogs out of this thing.  Isaiah got one and of course started eating it right away.

What's a parade without horses

This bag was literally filled with candy!

Ava loves Miss Isabelle

Mommy and her Bootles

3 Best Friends

Playtime at Isabelle's house

Off to the carnival...Ava loved this kid rollercoaster and was the only one on it.

Riding the firetruck

Isaiah and Ava called this the Dumbo ride...it seems like everything is connected to Disney World!

Riding the rockets...they could have rode in seperate rockets, but Isaiah wanted to be right with Ava!

Ava riding a zebra on the merry-go-round.  Isaiah does not like merry-go-rounds unless they have a bench he can sit on...he has always refused to sit on one of the animals.

Isaiah getting ready to enjoy a blue raspberry snowcone.  They gave you the cup of shaved ice and then had a machine where you could choose your own flavoring to add.  Ava and Isaiah thought this was pretty cool to do!

Ava wanted to make the same kind!

Isabelle on the merry-go-round with her Daddy

Mommy made her a rainbow snowcone

Playing on the inflatables

One last ride on the cars

Time for dinner...he really did eat most of this!

Ava blowing in the trumpet she won while playing a carnival game.

Isaiah trying to play VERY loudly

I just had to add this picture...the other day Isaiah wanted to nap on the couch for some reason.  He was so cute laying by his two Simbas who each had to be wrapped in their own diaper.

Andy working on his early Father's Day present.  He got to pick it out!

You will find my Three Happy's under my last post from today.  Keep scrolling down...there's lots more to read and see.
