Chapter 7: Hooray for Hollywood

"Laughter is America's most important export."
                                   -Walt Disney

Our family just got back from a 4 day trip to Oklahoma.  My cousin Kayla got married and the kids were both in the wedding...ring bearer and flower girl.  Boy am I behind!  I still have lots of Disney pictures to post, Father's Day, wedding pictures, and just random ones I've taken.

Let's go back to that Disney vacation...and travel to Disney's Hollywood Studios.  I could spend a day there just taking pictures.  If you love the "old movies" look, you'll love this place.  Andy and I can both say that this is probably our favorite park.  The rides are so fun and the atmosphere is beautiful!

Here are a few pictures that we took when we entered the park.

That famous Mickey Mouse hat from Fantasia.  This thing sits above a stage at the entrance of Hollywood Studios.

Someday I'd LOVE to experience American Idol.  Guests at the park can audition to be on stage while other people are the audience.  It's not the "real" show you see on TV  but it's designed to be exactly the same...looks and all.  Let it be known that I won't be trying out...I just think it would be fun to be an audience member.

There's that giant hat again.

The kids love the Disney Junior TV channel.  This stage performance features The Mickey Mouse Clubhouse gang, The Little Einsteins, Handy Manny, and Jake and the Neverland Pirates.

Julie and myself before going into the show.

The show is about to begin!

Mickey

Goofy

Mommy and her loves

The stage was designed to look like the clubhouse...this was so neat!

Donald Duck

Those famous tools from the show Handy Manny.

Handy Manny

The Little Einsteins

Jake from "Jake and the Neverland Pirates"

Izzy his sidekick

That evil Captain Hook and Mr. Smee.

Goofy getting ready to surprise Minnie with her birthday cake.

Daisy Duck

Minne...she's so surprised to find her friends have thrown her a secret surprise birthday party.

The next ride we went on was "The Great Movie" ride.  I think the wait time was 10 minutes but the cool thing about this ride is you get to see props from the movies while you walk in line.  This was an outfit that was worn in the Chronicles of Narnia movie.

This a horse from the movie Mary Poppins.

Here is the entrance into the ride.  There is no flash photography allowed inside..so this is all you get.  Inside the ride are movable figures that tell about different movies.  From Singing in the Rain, and The Wizard of Oz, to the movie Aliens...there is lots to see!

Isaiah didn't want to go on the Star Wars ride...he thought it was going to be too scary.  So we took his picture on this Star Wars machine.

This is the Tower of Terror...an elevator ride that goes up to the top of this building and then drops.  Awesome ride!

Hollywood and Vine...this is the restaurant where we ate lunch.  Here you get to eat an awesome buffet and meet lots of fun characters.

A glimpse of what the restaurant looks like inside.

Meeting Handy Manny...

...and Jake...

...Ava and Daddy...

...enjoying lunch...

...June from the Little Einsteins...

...and Special Agent Oso.

Lots of hugs for this cuddly bear!

Kevin and Isabelle

Silly poses in front of a Star Wars background

Next we went on the Backlot Tour to learn a little more about Disney...here was a prop from the movie Armageddon.

They showed how to do cool stunts with water, explosives, and fire.

The barn that was in the movie Hannah Montana.

Riding the tram through the set

How cute is this Mickey shaped bush!
The Hollywood Studios tower

One of the places where costumes for the movies are made.  People were actually working in here!

Catastrophe Canyon...another stunt show

Ava posing in front of the costume worn by the Queen of Hearts in the movie Alice.

A costume from the Pirates of the Caribbean movie..can't remember who wore it.

The organ used in the Pirates of the Caribbean movie.

Next ride was Toy Story Mania...if you don't fast pass this early...you'll never ride it...unless you want to wait 2-3 hours.  This ride is awesome.  It's a giant 3-D video game you ride through...we have the Wii game for the kids that is based off of this ride.

As you walk through the line you pass giant toys.

Meeting one of the "Green Army Men" from the Toy Story movie.

The kids LOVED playing in the "Honey I Shrunk the Kids" play area.  Isaiah and Ava riding on a giant ant.

Here I am standing on the ground and looking up as I take a picture of the giant blades of grass.

This jar was soooo tall!

Going down the "film" slide

The kids loved this giant dog's nose that was hidden in the grass.  It made sniffing noises when you stood by it.  I think it even sneezed and sprayed a little bit of water.

They loved this giant net climbing feature.

Love this restaurant...Sci Fi...it's indoors but set to look like your sitting in old cars at a drive-in movie.

How cute are these two lovebirds!

The next few pictures are of the cars we sat in.  There is a table in front of each row.

Rockin' Roller coaster...what an awesome ride!!  You go from start to the first loop on this ride from 0-60 miles per hour in 2.8 seconds.  Julie and I went on this ride together and she was screaming, "Help, Help!" the whole time.  I was laughing so hard!

Tower of Terror again at night.  Ava wanted to go on this with Andy and I.  Isaiah was already asleep for the night in the stroller and my parents watched him while we went on the ride.

As you walk through this "hotel" you see old dusty furniture as it was years ago!

This is the boiler room...made to look like one...where you make your way to the elevator.

Doesn't look like a very safe ride...but once these doors open, you buckle, and off you go.  If you want to read more about this ride...click the link below.

And there you have it...we went back to Hollywood Studios again...that will be for a later post.  I know I'm only on Chapter 7 of our trip...but I'm making progress right?

My Three Happy's are on the next post.
